I'm launching a new project just for the community of the Edd Egg forums! It's Project Omelet!

I'm going to animate a brand new cartoon. But every creative decision is down to you, the community.

I want everyone, to work together, to come up with a short 30 second cartoon. This has to be an original cartoon, so no Edd Egg. Nor do I want it to be based on forum members. It has to be all original.

There are job roles:
Head Writer - puts the script together and leads the written decisions
Head Designer - has overall say on designing decisions
Head Sound Tech - has to compile/collect all the sounds (background sounds, sound effects, voice overs, music)

These guys will have overall say on these decisions BUT this is a community project. So, every important or disputed decision has to be voted for by the community. And there has to be a favourable vote before the given decision is made. For example: If the head designer says character A must wear a blue shirt, the community can decide. If the vote favours a red shirt, the head designer must listen to the community. Whether the decision is ultimately a red shirt is up to the designer.

These aren't the only job roles. We need someone to pitch design ideas, writing ideas and sound ideas. We need artists to sketch out these ideas. We need voice actors for the roles. Sound editors too. Lots of roles going and people can have more than one role. It's up to the Heads to designate roles to people to get the task done.

Ultimately, I need to be presented with 1) A completed script. 2) Completed character designs (bare in mind, I may slightly amend these to work with my animation style). 3) Completed sound track. There's no absolute deadline, but let's try and roll this round within the next few months.

But, what if you feel you cannot draw, voice act, write or anything? What if you join the forum too late in the game and lost out on getting a role? Every decision is made by the community so your voice will be heard and you can still be a part of this project.

The completed cartoon will be put up on EddEgg.com and possibly Newgrounds too. Everyone involved will get credit.

I want every creative decision to be yours (and I will be taking part too in the community decision-making process) but I wish to lay down just these few rules:
1) Keep it clean (I don't mind light slapstick violence or mild language, but no sweary bloody gorefests)
2) Keep it funny (We're all here because we like humourous cartoons, so lets keep it that way)
3) Keep it short (I don't want it to be much more than 30 seconds long)
4) Keep it simple (I personally vote, and the community can decide this one, for just two "people". And by "people" it can be humans, dogs, guitars or dinosaurs, but basically keep it a very small cast list. I don't want to remake every fight scene from Lord Of The Rings here)
5) Keep it community-driven (it's everyone taking part here so let everyone be involved. Also, to take part you have to be a registered forum member)

So any volunteers for the head roles? Note, to be head writer you don't actually have to write the script. You can if you want, but you can decide to let someone else write it and agree to the finished product. Same goes for the head designer and sound tech.

Go Project Omelet!

This could be one for the memories that we tell our children. I don't mind doing whatever we can all work something out.

Does Project Omelet have a deadline?

Hard to say now. I hope within the next few months but we'll see how things progress.

I have a little idea of what it could be.

There are two guys making sandwiches and the both go to put there knifes in the mayo jar and there knifes hit each other then guy1 hits the guy2's knife away then guy2 knocks guy1's knife away then it erupts into a big knife fight then guy1 cut's guy2's arm off then  they start screaming and yelling

Guy2-Ahhhh you just cut off my arm!
Guy1-ahh Oh my god I am so sorry, we gotta get you to a hospital!
Guy2-.... No shit.
Guy1-(starts looking around) Oh no! I can't find the car keys.
Guy2-Grab the phone call 911 quick!
guy1-(grabs phone and dials 911) Hello?
Phone person-911 whats your emergency?
Guy1-I cut my friends arm off..... It was a mistake.
Guy2-Hey <guy1's name> look at this (grabs his arm off the ground and licks his elbow) heh, Awesome.

                                             The end

At least I tried.

Shows Person #1 crying.
Person #2 comes in, asks what's wrong.
Person #1 whispers into Person #2's ear, and he starts to cry.
Person #3 comes in, and the same thing happens but Person #2 does the whispering.
Person #4 comes in, asks what's wrong.
Person #1, 2 & 3 say at the same time "We don't have a flash toon story!"
Person #4 replys "Well I just thought of one!"
END

Let's not dive in with scripts yet.

So we have a couple to willing writers and a designer. Anyone what to handle sound?

I'm good with scripts - I even have a script writing program over here. Also, I was just shouting out a random idea.

We do actually have Wal-marts of a sort here, but they're named Asda.
